Addingham Gardeners History

Allotments & Gardens Association – Growing Together in Addingham

Below is the formal Constitution of Addingham Allotments & Gardens Association, with records showing its formation back in 1973 when a small group of villagers wanted to start a ‘Gardeners Club’ to promote their interest in gardening by sharing tips and ideas as well as promoting the therapeutic benefits of gardening.

Today, Addingham has around 135 allotments spread over 4 sites around the village plus approximately 1,500 houses all having differing sized gardens or maybe just the odd planter or pot!

Challenges from the impact of climate change, the quest for a more sustainable approach to protect our environment and reduce food miles makes the combined effort of all of us ever more relevant. Add the ever-changing economic situation and it makes growing more fruit and vegetables an obvious and rewarding pastime.

Why not join us by becoming a member.
